# CVE-2024-24762: python-multipart vulnerable to content-type header Regular expression Denial of Service - Exploited (CISA KEV): no - Published: 2024-02-05 - CVSS: 7.5 HIGH (v3.1) - EPSS: 1.5% (75th percentile) - CWE: CWE-400 `python-multipart` is a streaming multipart parser for Python. When using form data, `python-multipart` uses a Regular Expression to parse the HTTP `Content-Type` header, including options. An attacker could send a custom-made `Content-Type` option that is very difficult for the RegEx to process, consuming CPU resources and stalling indefinitely (minutes or more) while holding the main event loop. This means that process can't handle any more requests, leading to regular expression denial of service. This vulnerability has been patched in version 0.0.7. ## Edge WAF coverage (claimed by vendors, not measured) | Vendor | Status | First rule | Days after publication | |---|---|---|---| | Cloudflare | Before feed history | — | — | | AWS | No public claim | — | — | | Microsoft Azure | No public claim | — | — | | Google Cloud | Before feed history | — | — | | Fastly | Before feed history | — | — | | F5 | Rule published | 2024-09-17 | 225 | | Akamai | No public source | — | — | | OWASP CRS | No public claim | — | — | ### F5 - 2024-09-17 · new · rule 200012088 > Added: signature 200012088 "Python-Multipart ReDoS" (Denial of Service, risk High), systems: Other Web Server, Python.
