# CVE-2024-50340: Ability to change environment from query in symfony/runtime - Exploited (CISA KEV): no - Published: 2024-11-06 - CVSS: 7.3 HIGH (v3.1) - EPSS: 61.8% (99th percentile) - CWE: CWE-74 symfony/runtime is a module for the Symphony PHP framework which enables decoupling PHP applications from global state. When the `register_argv_argc` php directive is set to `on` , and users call any URL with a special crafted query string, they are able to change the environment or debug mode used by the kernel when handling the request. As of versions 5.4.46, 6.4.14, and 7.1.7 the `SymfonyRuntime` now ignores the `argv` values for non-SAPI PHP runtimes. All users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability. ## Edge WAF coverage (claimed by vendors, not measured) | Vendor | Status | First rule | Days after publication | |---|---|---|---| | Cloudflare | Blocks by default | 2025-01-06 | 61 | | AWS | No public claim | — | — | | Microsoft Azure | No public claim | — | — | | Google Cloud | No public claim | — | — | | Fastly | Before feed history | — | — | | F5 | Rule published | 2025-01-21 | 76 | | Akamai | No public source | — | — | | OWASP CRS | No public claim | — | — | ### Cloudflare - 2025-01-06 · new · rule 84d481b1f49c4735afa2fb2bb615335e · default Block > Symfony Profiler - Auth Bypass - CVE:CVE-2024-50340.
